Public Accountant Employers

Leading Employers: The largest employers in Brisbane’s public accounting sector include:

  • BDO Australia.  (64, increase of 14%)
  • Pitcher Partners (52, increase of 21%)
  • Hall Chadwick (34, increase of 21%)
  • Bentleys Queensland (32, increase of 11%)

Each of these firms has seen notable growth since last year.

Brisbane’s Public Accounting Workforce Snapshot

Total Employment: Greater Brisbane is home to over 2,502 public accountants.
Demand: The demand for accountants remains very high, with popular positions including Accountant, Senior Accountant and Assistant Accountant.
Tenure: Accountants in Brisbane typically have a median tenure of 1.6 years, suggesting a moderately high turnover and potential opportunities for fresh talent.
Job Changes: In the past year, 282 public accountants in Brisbane have changed roles, indicating healthy movement within the industry and a strong demand for experienced professionals.

The number of public accountants across major Australian cities (change from previous year).

  • Greater Sydney Area: 7,236 accountants (3% decrease)
  • Greater Melbourne Area: 6,106 accountants (4% decrease)
  • Greater Brisbane Area: 2,502 accountants (6% decrease)
  • Greater Perth Area: 2,216 accountants (4% decrease)
  • Greater Adelaide Area: 1,713 accountants (3% decrease)

Skilled Labour Movement

This section shows major changes in public accountant employees in the last year.

  • Moore Australia: increased by 40%
  • Hoffman Kelly Accountants: increased by 33%
  • BusinessDEPOT: decreased by 20%
  • Bentleys Queensland: decreased by 11%

These numbers highlight which firms have seen the most significant shifts in their public accountant workforce, indicating growth for some and reduction for others.

  • Senior Accountant: 369 (↓ 2%)

These figures indicate percentage decreases across various accounting roles, with the largest reductions seen in Intermediate and Junior Accountant positions.
